OH&S Management
Managing occupational health, safety and welfare effectively is a continuing challenge for employers and Occupational Health, Safety & Welfare (OHS&W) Practitioners.
Industry sectors with high injury and fatality rates, such as manufacturing, construction and transport must develop strategies that will provide their workers with a safe and healthy work environment.
With emerging issues such as workplace stress, violence and bullying, demands have been increased on employers to pay more attention to work organisation, working time arrangements and acceptance of gender and cultural diversity. These emerging issues require a range of interventions which are now articulated and embedded in South Australia’s Health and Safety Legislation
SG Learning and Development offers the following range of services to assist the individual and organisations achieve their occupational health and safety objectives.
Consultancy Services
Our OH&S consultancy service is customised to the client’s requirements with a focus on delivering sound recommendations and activities that interrelate and enhance the organisation’s current planning activities, management systems and required outcomes.
Risk Assessment
Identifying hazards, assessing the level of risk associated with each hazard, and implementing control measures to eliminate/minimise the risk, is a mandatory requirement in any workplace. Our qualified assessors can audit your workplace - whether it's a workshop in a manufacturing environment or an office, and, in consultation with you, develop workable strateties to achieve a safe and healthy work environment.
Auditing for Success
Auditing OH&S management systems has two key functions - one is to establish the degree of compliance and the other is to assess effectiveness of the process and or system and identify opportunities for improvement.
We offer a range of auditing activities ranging from the mandatory OH&S Legislative compliance audit to auditing against specific WorkCover requirements such as Safety Achiever Bonus and Exempt Employers standards. Our auditing service includes consultation with relevant personnel, conducting the required audit/s and then preparing a gap analysis report.
Development of OH&S Systems
A key component of an effective safe work environment is to establish a relevant, comprehensive and transparent health and safety management system that meets statutory requirements, delivers the planned health and safety outcomes and interrelates with other systems within the organisation.
We will assist you in developing customised, stand alone systems as well as integrated systems which incorporate health, safety and welfare, quality and environmental requirements.
OH&S Training
Increasingly employers are recognising the value of having trained staff to manage OHS&W. Organisations have demonstrated that with the knowledge and capability, effective management of OHS&W contributes to the ‘bottom line’ significantly.
We offer a range of training and development opportunities that include short courses and one-off workshops for employees at all levels of the organisation including those with specific responsibilities for OH&S.
As a Registered Training Organisation, we can deliver and issue qualifications for the Certificate IV and Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety. Contact us for details of our public programs and Diploma course which has been developed as a distant and self paced learning package.
